Membership Terms and Conditions

By signing up for or using a membership plan you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions of use.

Current Membership plans

The One Movie Plan*

  • $120/year (or $10 per month)
  • Take out 1 movie at a time for up to 4 days —exchange as often as you want+
  • Attend 1 show per month free
  • No late fees

The Two Movies Plan*

  • $240/year (or $20 per month)
  • Take out 2 movies at a time for up to a week+
  • Attend 2 shows per month free
  • No late fees!

The Four Movies Plan*

  • $360/year (or $30 per month)
  • Take out 4 movies at a time for up to a week+
  • Attend 4 shows per month free
  • No late fees!

Cultural Membership Plan (Individual)

  • $200/year, applies to one individual
  • Attend any Best Video Film & Cultural Center event at no additional cost by showing your card (Does not apply to events put on by outside promoters such as GuitarTownCT Concert Series)
  • Rent videos on a movie-by-movie basis for two nights as $4.50 each. Late fees of $2 per day

Cultural Membership Plan (Family)

  • $200/year, applies to one individual
  • All family members may attend any Best Video Film & Cultural Center event at no additional cost by showing your card (Does not apply to events put on by outside promoters such as GuitarTownCT Concert Series)
  • Rent videos on a movie-by-movie basis for two nights as $4.50 each. Late fees of $2 per day

For a limited time, members that pay for 12 months up front for the One-Movie, Two-Movie, or Four-Movie Plans will get a 10% discount!

If you wish to take out additional movies beyond what your plan covers, it would be $2 per additional rental per night.

*All plans are subject to change. Although there are no late fees, you may get a polite reminder call that your rental is due. Films not returned within a reasonable time are subject to a replacement fee at the retail cost. If you choose not to sign up for one of the three plans, you can continue to rent on a pay-as-you-go basis. Prices in the legacy plans and per movie are subject to change

+We ask that marked new releases be returned in 1 or 2 days.

Membership qualifications

Customers must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid credit card, e-mail address, and reside in the United States.

Your current email address

You agree to provide us with a current email address that you check regularly.  Any email sent to the email address that you provide is deemed to be received by you even if it goes to your junk mail folder or is returned to us..

Termination for cause

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your membership for cause due to any of the following:

(i) you do not satisfy the membership qualifications at any time.

(ii) you breach any of the terms or conditions of this agreement.

(iii) any information you have given us is found to be false .

(iv) your email address or phone number ceases to work or email to you is returned to us undeliverable.

(v) you abuse our staff personally or by email or telephone.

(vi) your credit card (or other payment method we accept) transaction on your account is declined (or reversed without our consent).

Termination for convenience by either party

Either party may terminate your membership for convenience by providing seven (7) business days written notice.  See the refund policy.

Your payment method

We may charge your credit card or other payment method provided for the membership fee up to two weeks in advance of each membership period.  We may charge your credit card with any other money you owe us.  At any time, we may change the start and end dates of your membership period and pro rate accordingly.  We will notify you in advance if we make changes to your membership period.  We may disclose your payment method information to our financial institution(s) or credit card processor(s) to verify the payment information. We may obtain information about you from financial institutions(s), credit card processors(s) or credit reporting agencies to verify the your information and to verify that there is sufficient credit or funds available on your card account to pay the amounts you owe us. After your membership is terminated, we may debit any amounts you owe us against your payment method. We may report past due amounts to a credit reporting agency as permitted by law.

Membership Refund Conditions

There are no refunds on membership fees except as follows:

(i) If we terminate your membership for convenience and you do not owe us any monie(s), we will refund your membership fee on a pro-rated basis (e.g. if we terminate a monthly membership on the 15th day after your renewal date, we will refund 50% of your membership fee for that month).

(ii) For monthly plans, if you terminate your membership within seven (7) days of signing up for a plan or within fourteen (14) days of us charging your payment method to renew a monthly plan, we will issue a refund for that current month provided that (i) you do not owe us any monie(s), (ii) you are have not breached any of the terms of this agreement, and (iii) you have not used the plan during the current month.  No refunds will be provided more than fourteen (14) days after you payment was processed or for prior membership periods.

(iii) For annual plans, if you terminate your membership within seven (7) days of signing up for a plan or within sixty (60) days of us charging your payment method to renew an annual plan, we will issue a refund provided that (i) you do not owe us any monie(s), (ii) you have not breached any of the terms of this agreement, and (iii) you have not used the plan during the current annual membership period.  No refunds will be provided more than sixty (60) days after your payment was processed or for prior membership periods.

Login Credentials

If you register online, you must store your login information (username and password) safely and securely.  You may not share your password with any unauthorized person. If you become aware that anyone other than you or an authorized person is using your login credentials, you must change your password immediately and notify us of the unauthorized use.  If you authorize another member of your household to use your account, you are liable for everything that person does, and all charges they incur.

Membership not transferable

You may not transfer your membership to, or share it with, anyone else except for a relative residing in the same household as you.  We may assign this agreement to another organization by providing written notice to you.

Canceling your membership

You may give notice to cancel your membership. Your membership then ends at the end of the current plan period.  There are no refunds of periodic charges except as expressly set forth in the refund policy above. We may charge your payment method for late fees, lost media, or other monie(s) you owe to use after your membership ends.

Damaged or Lost VHS, DVDs, and other Media (“BVFCC Media”)

You are responsible for the BVFCC Media that you borrow from us.  You may not mark, damage, deface, or otherwise modify BVFCC Media in any way.

Permitted Use of BVFCC Media

You may not copy any portion of the BVFCC Media. You must only use BVFCC Media for personal use in your household.   You must strictly adhere to all copyright and intellectual property laws that govern the use of BVFCC Media.  You may not show PG-13, R, NC-17 or other age restricted movies to minors except as allowed by law.

Lost, Damaged, or Outstanding Rentals

If you do not return BVFCC Media within the rental periods allowed or if your membership ends and you do not return all rentals to us immediately, we may charge your credit card with an amount equal to the full suggested retail price plus a $10 administrative fee unless the title is out of print.  You will then own that BVFCC Media.  If the title is out of print, at our option, you will either replace the title with like condition media within five (5) calendar days and pay an additional $10 administrative fee or we will find the media for you and charge your payment method for the cost of the replacement media plus a $25 administrative fee.  If your payment method is declined, we may charge you reasonable collection and legal fees in addition to the fees above.

Collection Charges and Interest fee on over due payments

If you owe us money that is overdue for payment, we may charge interest at 15% per annum and an administrative fee of $10 a month plus all reasonable collection and legal expenses we incur.

Changes to terms and conditions of use

We reserve the right from time to time to change these terms and conditions at our sole discretion. We will notify you of any material updates by email or via the web site.
