Music: Surf music a-go-go with The Clams Wed., July 12

The Clams with go-go dancers at Best Video Performance Space.

Surf’s up! Instrumental rockers The Clams play Best Video Performance Space on Wednesday, July 12. The waves of reverb start crashing at 8 PM and the cover is $5.

Every time The Clams—Dano Clam on guitar, Clammy Davis Jr. on drums, and Deep C Clam on bass—have played Best Video Film & Cultural Center, audience members couldn’t keep themselves from dancing. Maybe we’ll truck in a foot deep’s worth of sand for the floor and really make it authentic!

Kim Mikenis’ artist statement:

I am fascinated with combining art and science with my love of nature. I play with paper, sculpt, assemble, collage, paint and sew. I enjoy figuring out where to place the finished figures on the canvas and often feel a sense of sadness once the figures are permanently attached to one final fixed position. My enjoyment with play and constant movement has spurned creation of dozens of puppet shows and stop motion animations.  I am also inspired by travels abroad, the comforts of home, vaudeville, circus, human fears, scientific phenomenon and animals.
