Music: Post-punk and indie rock from Joe Division, The Outer Side Wed., June 20

Joe Division and The Outer Side plays Best Video Performance Space on Wednesday, June 20. The show starts at 8 PM and the cover is $5.

Joe Division plays scratchy post-punk from the ashes of Kimono Draggin. The group features Chris Swirski (drums), Joe Nolan (guitar) and, from the band Eula, Jeff Maleri (bass).

The Outer Side is a 3-piece original rock band from New Haven, consisting of Jeff Maleri (guitar, bass, vocals), Paul de la Reza (guitar, bass, vocals) and Ryan Boudreau (drums). They are like two bands in one. Half the songs are written by Maleri and the other half are written by de la Reza. A variety of styles is heard: classic rock, post-punk, folk, and hard rock. They seamlessly blend the two sounds together to create an energetic live show. They have opened for Reeves Gabrels (Bowie, Cure), David Kendrick (Devo , Sparks) and Richard Lloyd (Television).
