UPDATED/CORRECTION 10/20/17: “Whither Thou Goest,” film series on immigration and refugee topics moves to Best Video starting Mon., Oct. 23, with “The Visitor”

UPDATE 10/20/17: Contrary to this original post, the film series “Whither Thou Goest” will remain at Temple Beth Sholom for the time being. If the facility at TBS cannot accommodate the audience, future screenings may be moved to BVFCC.

“The Visitor,” the third film in the exciting and thought-provoking series, “Whither Thou Goest: Great Films About Immigration and Refugees,” will screen this coming Monday, Oct. 23, 7:15 PM at Best Video Film & Cultural Center Temple Beth Sholom, across the street from BVFCC. Because of a miscommunication, we previously posted that the series was being moved to BVFCC. The series is sponsored by Temple Beth Sholom Adult Education and BVFCC.

Best Video founder Hank Paper offers a brief intro and will lead the optional post-film discussion. Admission is $7; free for members of Temple Beth Sholom.

In this remarkable and inspiring movie, directed by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Station Agent), famous character actor Richard Jenkins assumes the lead (and wins the Oscar nomination for Best Acting) in this film about a lonely college professor who travels to New York City to attend a conference and finds an African family living in his apartment. “A heartfelt human drama that sneaks up and floors you.” (Rolling Stone, Peter Travers)
