Mightymoonchew, A Pallet for the Shoal play Thurs., Aug. 19

Mightymoonchew and A Pallet for the Shoal play the Best Video Film & Cultural Center deck Thurs., Aug. 19. The show starts with A Pallet for the Shoal at 5:15 PM.

MightyMoonChew is a trio from New Haven bringing a wild mix of sounds and genres together, sometimes on the spot. Shoutout Lil Mama and Avril Lavigne. The band is Marcus-Aurelius C. Benton, Mooncha, and Chris Chew.

A Pallet for the Shoal is the songwriting project of New Haven area singer/guitarist Clayton Eles and bassist Lucas Healy-Hibbard. The duo’s sound is anchored by the solid and soulful plucking of Healy-Hibbard’s bass, while Eles dashes bright notes of harmonica on folk/country tunes or sears ragged guitar leads between verses of meditative lyrics. Alternative and psychedelic tones mingle while the narrative voice of the songs delivers fluid reflections on the human condition. The group has performed throughout the east coast for over a decade. Typical live sets are accentuated by a smattering of tasty covers.

We ask respect for social distancing, please, and conscientiousness on masks. Not everybody is vaccinated yet and our venue wants to advise caution and consideration for others. Masks are optional outside but required if you go inside Best Video.

No cover charge but please bring cash for the musicians’ tip jar. This has been a real hard time for musicians, almost all of whom have seen their live performance income dry up. (There will also be a Best Video tip jar for donations.)

Parking available behind Best Video and on Thornton Street.
