Milksop: Unsung kicks it up a notch

Local band Milksop: Unsung went au naturel in the BEST VIDEO PERFORMANCE SPACE on Thursday, Nov. 15, forsaking all use of electricity—including microphones for the vocals. Using instruments commonly heard in bluegrass music, they kicked up a fervent racket—what punk rock might sound like when the power grid goes down permanently.

Dan Carrano, left, played guitar and mandolin (and kazoo on one song) and sang lead on most numbers. Gary Velush, who also plays bass in local band Fake Babies, played upright bass and took the lead vocal on one song:
