Music: Couch Yeti Booking presents indie rock Sat., Aug. 11, at 6:30 PM

Couch Yeti Booking and Promotions presents a three-band indie rock bill—No Better (from California), Seller and Every Branch—Saturday, Aug. 11, at Best Video Performance Space. The show starts at 6:30 PM and the cover is $8-10—pay what you can in that range.

No Better are an emo band from Redlands, California. Their debut LP, It Felt Like Glass, is a winding eleven song record that advocates for positive self-reflection in the face of change and adversity. Drawing from seminal emo and indie rock influences, No Better have made a record that is simultaneously familiar and unique. Energetic, hopeful, and earnest, It Felt Like Glass reminds listeners of the basic qualities that made them fall in love with emo in the first place.

Seller is a Grunge Pop band from New Haven, CT formed in January 2017. Their sound is a mix of 90s post hardcore, alternative, and indie rock. Opening for acts like Fossil Youth, Blue Heaven, and Chase Huglin, Seller has ripped their way across the Connecticut Scene. Their debut release ‘Present & Pretending’ is a versatile collection of songs written over the course of 2017. Songwriter Johnny Mitchell leaves his heart on a plate for the listener as he explores his feelings of heartbreak, acceptance, and disillusion in the wake of his mother’s passing.

Every Branch, based in New Britain, is a four piece delivering brooding and melodic alternative indie-rock. Band members are Steven (vocals & guitar), Jared (bass & vocals), Nathan (guitar) and Ronnie (drums). They have three releases on Bandcamp you can check out.

Dan Osto of CT Scramble wrote:

New Britain alternative rock four-piece Every Branch have released their new Hillcrest Drive EP, the band’s newest release since 2017’s A Widow & A Forest Burning Down. The EP was recorded by singer-guitarist Steven Weldon and mixed and mastered by Sam Carlson of Ports of Spain. The Hillcrest Drive EP is brooding, melodic and features some of Every Branch’s most focused songwriting yet. Weldon delivers an impassioned vocal performance and memorable one-liners alongside heavy crashing cymbals, gritty rhythm guitar and spacey riffage. Songs like “Old Preacher” and “Cambria” sound both world weary yet still youthfully invigorated in their execution.
