Music: John Spignesi Band plays acoustic trio (JS3) set Wed., Feb. 21

The John Spignesi Band plays Best Video Performance Space in a stripped-down acoustic trio performance on Wednesday, Feb. 21. The show starts at 8 PM and the cover is $5.

The JS3 for the night is John Spignesi (guitar, vocals), Thom Guthrie (bass, vocals) and Chris Mitchell (keys, vocals).

Formed in 2015, The John Spignesi Band has steadily climbed the ranks of the Jam Scene. What makes this band unique? This is a question often asked by first time listeners. It could be the experience, amounting to over 100 years of playing in a live setting. It could be the pulsing energy. Or maybe it’s the extensive song catalogue, featuring both originals and covers that take you on a wild ride. Words cannot do it justice. It is truly an experience.

Drawing from influences such as Jerry Garcia, Duane Allman and Scott Murawski, John “Spigs” Spignesi brings his own unique approach to the group. Not bound to any one genre, his original songs have been known to touch a multitude of styles. He can often be found deep in a jam, listening intently.

Although the newest member to the group, Thom Guthrie is no stranger to the music. His ability to perform a variety of genres is something that makes his playing unique. As of 2017, this is Thom & Matt’s 19th project together.

A Grateful Dead touring Veteran, Chris Mitchell is a force to be reckoned with. Citing Mark Mercier (Max Creek) as one of his biggest influences, Mitch has worked extremely hard to give JSB the sound it has today. Mitch and Spigs have collaborated on numerous projects together, JSB being the priority.
