Music: Folk from Hugh & Dana Fri., Apr. 8

Hugh_Dana_Chester_WebNew London duo Hugh & Dana sail into Best Video Performance Space for a show Friday, Apr. 8. The folkies play at 8 PM and the cover is $5.

Hugh Birdsall, has been playing music in Southeastern Connecticut for decades, literally. He is a founding member of The Reducers, Dogbite, The Three-Pack, The Original Sinners, and SheSaidHeSaid. Guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, and bon vivant, he has toured extensively and has performed and recorded in some of the finest studios, basements, garages, and dives in the region. Heavily influenced by 40’s hot jazz, 50’s rock n’roll, the 60’s folk movement, and the 70’s punk rock explosion, his body of work includes songs as diverse as “Black Plastic Shoes,” “Bombs Away, Lock and Load,” “Grace,” and “Wailing City Girl.”

Dana Takaki is a classically training violin player who “caught the fiddle bug” a few years ago.  She currently plays with plays with The Rivergods, Ear Candy for the Soul, Chorus of Westerly, New Britain Symphony and others.

Hugh & Dana play frequently at the Farmers’ Markets in Waterford, Chester, New London, Lyme and others as a duo and with other groups.  Their recently released CD is a collection of recording from summer 2015.
