Twins of El Dorado

Twins of El Dorado is a voice-trumpet duo that explores the concept of the art song and the intersection of text and music, subtly testing the boundaries between the meaningful and the inscrutable. Founded by vocalist Kristin Slipp and trumpeter Joe Moffett in 2008 at the New England Conservatory of Music and currently based in New York, the ensemble has for years focused on the writing and performing of challenging new works. Twins of El Dorado seeks to bring new ideas to the song form, culminating in a communion between ensemble and audience through a shared experience of new music and live performance.

Work and Why We Do It plays music for guitar, accordion and violin. The written material is concise (think jazz heads or little open form pieces) but leaves a lot of room for improvisation, interpretation, decision making both group and individual, and a general screwing with the material. The group was conceived in early 2015 by Chris Cretella (guitar/compositions) along with Adam Matlock (accordion) and Brian Slattery (violin) in New Haven, CT.
