Sleeping Giant Reading Series

The Sleeping Giant Reading Series brings writers and book lovers together on the third Thursday of the month. In the long shadow of Hamden’s Sleeping Giant, writers of every kind gather to hear professional readings, raise a glass, network, and support one another’s work. All are welcome, whether you’re a scribbler who hasn’t yet dared to call yourself a “writer” or an experienced published author.

For May’s installment , we have the writers Karen E. Olson and Lloyd Schwartz.

Karen E. Olson is the award winning author of the Annie Seymour and Tattoo Shop mysteries, the Black Hat Thrillers, and An Inconvenient Wife, a modern retelling of Henry VIII and his wives. She lives in North Haven with her husband and cat Seamus.

Lloyd Schwartz’s most recent book is Who’s on First? New and Selected Poems. His new collection, out next year, will be “Artur Schnabel and Joseph Szigeti Play Mozart at the Frick Collection (April 4, 1948)” and Other Poems. You may recognize Lloyd’s speaking voice: he’s an arts critic for NPR’s Fresh Air, and has won a Pulitzer Prize for music criticism. For many years, Lloyd taught at UMass Boston. He is the Poet Laureate of Somerville, Massachusetts, and has been honored by the NEA, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the Academy of American Poets.
